Not the way you would want to start the New
Year. A lacklustre performance from Celta handed Malaga the three points on the
night that won’t live long in the memory. Charles opened the scoring after
Ruben’s excellent scarecrow impression before Albentosa used his divine powers
to part open the Celta defence and head home. Best that we pretend it was all a
bad dream right?
If it wasn’t for Malaga’s Stormtrooper like
shooting it could have been even worse. The sooner we get Nolito back fit and
find a replacement Augusto the better. The goalkeeper rotation system that has
been experimented with in recent games will probably be scrapped and with good
reason. Ruben has potential, but he hasn’t lived up to it since the end of the
2012/13 season when given the chance to prove himself. Sergio on the other hand hasn’t been perfect
this season, but I think that we can all agree that he has done more to remain
as the number one goalkeeper.
On the bright side, our best performances
tend to come in the big games at Balaídos. Hopefully we will see the Celta side
that turned up against Barcelona in September and Atletico last season. If
Nolito is able to play, he will give a massive boost to the team that could
prove to be the difference on the night. Cue a 93rd minute winner
from Augusto…
On Thursday the Copa Del Rey returns in
what is a favourable tie against 3rd division Cádiz, (thanks for
that Cheryshev). This should give Berizzo the chance to allow some of the
youngsters such as Borja and Pape to impress. A comfortable win and a clean
sheet would be ideal to set us up for progression into the next round of the
cup.
Best regards and come on Celta!
¡Saludos y Hala Celta!
¡Saudos e Ala Celta!
