ESTADIO DEPORTIVO |
A game that we could have won, but one
where a point was a favourable result. Theo Bongonda scored his first goal of
the season in the first half before Jonny was sent his marching orders after a
trivial foul. Jorge Molina scored late on to bring Betis back on level terms in
a game that could have gone either way.
After some recent poor performances, it was
pleasing to see Sergio performing well again. His latest level has been well
below par but hopefully this performance is a sign of things to come in the
near future. Another positive that
can be taken from the game was Gustavo Cabral. He showed calmness on the ball
and leadership in what was a makeshift defence. With the lack of defenders
currently available, his form could be vital in the upcoming weeks.
I seem to be repeating myself on a weekly
basis now about individual defensive errors and yet again it cost us. With
Fontás and Sergi Gomez out, losing another defender in Jonny is a hindrance
that we could do without. Whether it was a red card I doubt but we cannot
continue to make such basic errors on a regular basis without feeling the effects;
the sooner we have our first choice defence back the better.
Next week, we face Espanyol in a game that
presents us with a good opportunity to return to winning ways. Despite our
injuries and suspensions in defence, we should have enough in attack to overcome
the Catalan team, especially with the return of Tucu Hernandez. Three points
will put us in a great position to hold on to fourth place going into the
Christmas break and make a real push for European football next season.
Best
regards and come on Celta!
¡Saludos y Hala Celta!
