ROMÁN RÍOS |
As with most things, ewoks have two sides.
After the soft, easy-going and helpless performance against Malaga we got back
to our tough, ruthless and human-eating ways versus Cádiz. John Guidetti scored
a much needed goal midway through the first half before Jonny’s deflected
effort found its way past the stranded Ballesté. The Swede got his second of
the game late on and has set us up for comfortable progression, excluding a
miracle, into the next round of the cup.
After a relatively tame start to his Celta
career, it was important for Guidetti to take his chance. Despite the low
quality of the opposition defending it was good to see him scoring and playing
well to add to his unquestionable work rate. Orellana was the heartbeat of the team going
forward once again. The free position given to him by Berizzo allows him to
roam the pitch and dictate play in any given circumstance. Nolito may be our
best player, but Orellana is arguably our most important.
With this comprehensive result the first
leg the second should give us the chance to rest some key players during this
busy period of games. Players such as Alende and Pape are also likely to
feature in some capacity which will give them some much-needed first team
experience to aid their development and show what they can offer.
Playing well against Cádiz is welcomed but
the fixture against Atletico will provide the real test. Fortunately our best
performances tend to come in these types of games against the bigger teams and
with Atletico’s goal scoring issues we are right to be confident. Nolito looks
likely to miss out which will undoubtedly be a massive loss due to his ability
to open up tight defences but with a bit of luck we can achieve a positive
result.
Best
regards and come on Celta!
