The Sky Blue Corner: "Top 4 at Christmas"

EL INDEPENDIENTE DE GRANADA

After a stellar first half to the season we now find ourselves in a Champions League position, something that we could have only dreamed of just a few years ago. Orellana opened the scoring in the 21st minute after some great play down the right from the excellent Señe. Iago Aspas then found himself on the end of a Jonny cross to double the lead just before half time for his 10th goal of the season. Ruben was relatively untested in what was a relatively comfortable win in the end for Celta.
Señe on his full debut was nothing short of outstanding. He showed skill, composure and ability to take on defenders as if they were amateurs (which in Granada’s case is quite likely). With current injuries to Nolito and others, this could be his time to really impress. His contract does however expire this summer so it would be wise to tie him down as soon as possible.

Orellana once again was incredible. He is the heartbeat of our attack and most of what is good about this team is exemplified by him. He is quickly becoming our key player in the vast majority of games this season. Iago Aspas again showed his quality and what we have been missing in the previous two seasons. With 10 goals already, it is well within the realms of possibility that he could reach 20 goals this season which would be phenomenal.

We are coming up to January meaning that the transfer window will soon be open. With the likely departure of Augusto to Atletico Madrid, it is vital that we find ourselves a replacement and keep hold of our other talents, especially Nolito. Kranevitter has been more or less ruled out by Berizzo stating that he would prefer a permanent transfer to a loan deal. Who the replacement will be is not yet clear but it won’t be long before Mancuello’s name starts to prop up again.

After the winter break we face Athletic at Balaídos in what is likely to be a tight-fought encounter but one that we have the ability to win.  If we can retain our form into the second half of the season European football will begin to look even more likely, possibly even Champions league with a bit of luck. This season could be a memorable one for us all.

Best regards and come on Celta!
¡Saludos y Hala Celta!
¡Saudos e Ala Celta!
